Newport Resident Takes to the Skies for Charity!

Nathan, a Newport resident, has set himself a fundraising target of £1,500 to help support the charity’s vital lifesaving work across the Midlands.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is far more than a helicopter in the sky. Every day, its highly trained crews respond to some of the most serious and life-threatening emergencies, providing advanced pre-hospital critical care to patients when every second matters.

From road traffic collisions and medical emergencies to incidents in difficult-to-reach locations, the charity’s pilots, doctors and paramedics work together to deliver specialist care directly to those who need it most.

Crucially, the service relies entirely on public donations to continue its work. The support of local communities, fundraisers and individual donors helps provide the equipment, training and resources needed to keep its lifesaving missions flying.

For Nathan, the charity has a particularly personal significance.

Through his work providing security at the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity headquarters with BWG, he was given the opportunity to see the organisation’s work at close quarters.

“I was always treated with kindness and respect by everyone involved,” Nathan said. “Seeing the professionalism, compassion and teamwork within the charity left a lasting impression on me.”

Wanting to give something back, Nathan decided to take on the sponsored skydive as a way of showing his appreciation while raising awareness of the charity and the vital role it plays in communities across the region.

The jump will take place at Tilstock Airfield at 12pm on August 29, with Nathan hoping his fundraising challenge will generate £1,500 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

While jumping from a plane represents a significant personal challenge, Nathan believes it pales in comparison with the challenges faced by the emergency crews who attend some of the most difficult situations imaginable.

“Jumping out of a plane will be one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced, but it is nothing compared to the challenges faced daily by the emergency crews who put themselves on the line to help others,” he said.

Nathan is encouraging members of the local community to support his fundraising effort, stressing that every donation — regardless of size — can help make a difference.

The money raised will contribute towards the charity’s ongoing work, helping it provide critical care, equipment and future lifesaving missions across the Midlands.

For Nathan, the skydive is more than simply a personal challenge. It is an opportunity to recognise the people behind the charity and help ensure that Midlands Air Ambulance Charity can continue to be there for patients and families on some of the worst days of their lives.
